Commitment to Business Ethics: A Letter from President & CEO

Written by: Ron Scheese

I was recently asked to write a letter which outlines our commitment to business ethics. I would like to share some of my thoughts into that document with you:

The world has changed tremendously since Andesa first opened its doors in 1983. Technology advances, globalization, financial product sophistication, regulatory burdens and increasing customer expectations and more are forcing organizations to adapt … or become irrelevant. While Andesa has evolved over the years, the strong ethical environment established by Dr. John E. Walker, our Founder and Chairman, has been a constant beacon guiding our direction.

It is evident by our business success that Andesa provides quality software solutions. But the true backbone of that success is the 115 employees who confront complex issues and make ethical choices each day, living the core values of Andesa in the interactions with their colleagues and clients. These same individuals personally volunteer countless hours in the community and have a long history of supporting Andesa’s community involvement with United Way, Meals on Wheels and Second Harvest Food Bank.

Thinking about the environment we have nurtured at Andesa, what I find remarkable is that we do not have a formal ethics program or an ethics mandate. Our commitment to ethics is not just a tool to reduce risk, safeguard our reputation, improve recruitment or meet regulatory requirements. Rather, it’s deeply ingrained in all of us, down to our very core.

Providing an ethical environment is the mandate we accept as leaders and staff at Andesa because it is the way we want to be treated and the way we want to treat others. It is a deeper, fundamental belief, held by many of the employees at Andesa that this is the way business is supposed to be and it provides an opportunity for individual growth, learning and exploration.
