A Halloween travel nightmare experience; something I described as “a reverse red-eye.” Following a few flight changes and delays, eighteen hours after leaving my Pennsylvania home, I arrived in Phoenix in the wee hours of the morning. At that time of day, it was just a short Uber ride to my hotel.
The nine-minute conversation with Abdul, the Uber driver, took me from a day of frustration to a moment of gratitude. We discussed family, raising children, friends, work, being blessed, etc. We shared similar hopes, dreams, beliefs and moments of thankfulness.
The Oxford dictionary defines gratitude as a noun meaning the quality of being thankful; readiness to show appreciation for and to return kindness.
Thanksgiving is a distinct time to appreciate the gifts of life we are all lucky to share, yet often take for granted. Loving families; thoughtful friends; caring colleagues; challenging work; wonderful communities; memorable experiences; and fortunate events are often overlooked because of familiarity. It shouldn’t take a holiday season (or an Uber ride for that matter) to appreciate the power of gratitude.
To my Andesa colleagues, thank you for being uniquely you!! Your enthusiasm, kindness, desire and dedication make me want to come to work every day. I truly treasure this stage of our journey together.
To our clients, I extend our gratitude for your confidence in and loyalty to Andesa and our team. Thank you for your business. We are blessed by the connections and relationships we share. There is nothing in our future we cannot overcome by working together.
Best wishes for a healthy and happy Thanksgiving! May good fortune continue to smile on you and may your blessings be bountiful.
